Two ways to rebuild

Some jobs are best done where the machine stands. Others need a clean workshop, proper lifting and time. Yates Group does both, so you can choose what keeps your downtime lowest.

On-site machinery rebuilds

Our crews carry out rebuilds and major component work in the field, on mine benches, civil sites and farms. Typical on-site work includes:

Boom, stick and cylinder changeouts on mining excavators
Hydraulic cylinder and pump removal and refitting
Engine, transmission and final drive changeouts
Structural repairs and fabrication by our boilermakers
Machine moves to get gear to where the work can be done

We bring the stands and tooling the job needs, including rated stands from 30T to 150T and Hytorc and hydraulic tooling, so there's no waiting on hire gear.

Off-site repairs, rebuilds and overhauls

When a component is better handled off the machine, we bring it back to our workshop at 29 Hawkins Place, Emerald. Being based in the middle of the Bowen Basin means short travel from most Central Queensland sites and a faster turnaround than sending parts to the coast. Off-site work covers hydraulic cylinders and components, fabricated structures, attachments and buckets, and agricultural machinery repairs.

Planned or after a failure

Rebuilds are often scheduled into a shutdown so the machine is down once and comes back with a full scope completed. They also follow failures: our 24/7 breakdown crews can stabilise a machine, pull the damaged component and get the rebuild under way the same day.

The trades on the job

Rebuilds are done by our own diesel fitters, auto electricians and boilermakers: the same people who service the machines day to day. They're ticketed and inducted for mine and civil sites, and our crew has been nine years LTI free.
